Proudly Partnering with A Soldier’s Journey Home Honoring A Local WNY Veteran

May 11, 2026

Some opportunities to give back don’t come along every day. This spring, TRS is honored to be part of something truly special, a two-week build that will change a local veteran’s life forever.

We recently joined Domenic Cortese on Hammertime Radio to talk about our partnership with A Soldier’s Journey Home (ASJH), a national nonprofit with a remarkable mission: uniting first responders, veterans, tradespeople, businesses, and community volunteers to build specially adapted, mortgage-free accessible homes for disabled veterans.

“These new homes restore independence and create lasting stability for our hero and their family.”

A Soldier’s Journey Homes Built Since 2014

ASJH was founded in 2014 and has since built more than a dozen homes across the country, each one completed in just two weeks by a dedicated crew of volunteers from all over the US.

This year’s recipient is Army Specialist Nathan Kalwicki, a Western New York native who lost his right leg and suffered lasting vascular injuries while serving in Afghanistan in 2011. Nathan’s new home will be built in West Falls, NY from May 18–30, and TRS will be contributing radiant floor heating and cooling systems to the project, providing home comfort for Nathan for years to come.

Why TRS Chose Radiant Heating and Cooling For This Hero

A Soldier's Journey Home Contribution TRS will be contributing radiant floor heating and cooling systems to Nathan’s home and it’s a meaningful choice for more than just comfort. Radiant systems deliver warmth evenly from the floor up, eliminating the drafts and hot spots common with forced-air systems. For someone managing mobility challenges or vascular injuries, that consistent, gentle warmth at floor level can make a real difference day to day. It’s a privilege to put our skills to work for someone who sacrificed so much for all of us. We’re grateful to ASJH for welcoming us into this incredible effort, and to every volunteer making it happen.
